Below is what was originally written in this post, which was drafted on 21 April, 2020. It’s what I would have said a month after New Horizons came out, when I felt the burning urge to blog, tell my thoughts, share my discoveries, discuss new aspects of the game after my first few weeks on my island.
But then I rediscovered that life is friggin busy and the blog got totally swept by the wayside. I don’t want to say that ship has sailed though (it totally has), because my hope is those thoughts will come back as I post whatever I manage to post. I started my island on 20 March and have played every day since, and I’ll really need to think about how I do the next few blogs so as not to overwhelm either of us. Thankfully my island is still only partially constructed, so I’m sure there will be plenty more to blog down the line.
So I guess this is a bit of a wordy post of little substance, just to bring my blog back from the dead and re-welcome anyone out there. Welcome.

Oh gosh, let’s see if I still remember how to flex this blogging muscle. I think I still know how to do this…
So I was fortunate enough to get my copy of Animal Crossing: New Horizons after work on day one, which was a Friday, and unleashed two years’ of pent up excitement and suspense, spending the next 48 hours eating, sleeping (barely), and stomping around my brand new island with gleeful abandon.
As I played, I felt the urge return to go back to my good old WordPress blog. I also learnt, however, that the Nintendo Switch is great at letting you take gorgeous screenshots, and totally sucks at letting you use them. I’m torn between uploading a million posts to social media (with four pics in each), or wearing the contacts down to the plastic on my microSD (and the spring in my Switch).
But I still want to try this blogging thing with New Horizons. So this is a disclaimer. I don’t know how this will go. I don’t know how long I’ll manage. I don’t know how many posts I’ll make. I also don’t know if I’ll get around to making the other areas of this blog less New Leaf-centric.
So now that I’ve shifted every shred of responsibility off my shoulders, let’s do this thing…
